Pie Footwear Observing Buy Nothing Day: Friday Nov. 27th

Pie Footwear will be observing Buy Nothing Day and will be CLOSED the day after Thanksgiving, Friday November 27, 2009. We hope you too will participate in Buy Nothing Day and indulge responsibly this holiday season by supporting your local small businesses.

Take the Plunge: Observe Buy Nothing Day

You know what they say: a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. You feel that things are falling apart – the temperature rising, the oceans churning, the global economy heaving – why not do something? Take just one small step toward a more just and sustainable future. Make a pact with yourself: go on a consumer fast. Lock up your credit cards, put away your cash and opt out of the capitalist spectacle. You may find that it’s harder than you think, that the impulse to buy is more ingrained in you than you ever realized. But you will persist and you will transcend – perhaps reaching the kind of epiphany that can change the world.

I heart Rain and Snow in pair of Lugano Boots by Patagonia

I'm dreaming of the mountains and of my feet being cozy and warm in these awesome Patagonia boots! With Ugg styling, but Patagonia durability the Lugano Waterproof is perfect for all winter weather.

These boots have 200 grams of Polartec in the lining and footbed providing warmth, comfort and moisture wicking. They also have a 15% recycled rubber outsole with a cool leaf design that provides extra traction and slip resistance. Not to mention the coziness of this fuzzy boot comes from recycled polyester. Virgin polyester is made from crude oil - an incredibly useful but increasingly scarce and nonrenewable resource associated with a host of environmental and social downsides (pollution, global warming, public health issues and war among them). Patagonia recycles about 2.25 soda bottles per pair of shoes into polyester fibers to produce these uber snuggly linings.

Whether you need warm boots for hanging out at the ski lodge or hanging out at your local coffee spot, the Lugano boot will get you there and keep your feet warm and dry. Stylish, practical and eco-friendly, what more could a girl want!

Simple Boots at Pie

My feet say YES, to Simple boots! So cozy, plus they look cute with jeans, leggings and pajama pants! We have the Pestoe & Toest and I can't decide which one I like better. I'm really into the short boot this year, it's so sassy.

These boots are also super eco-friendly, made of hemp, organic cotton, natural latex and recycled car tire. They even have a natural bees wax coating to make the hemp water resistant, which is a must for Portland.

Toest - Black (taller style) $120
Pestoe - Black Olive (short style) $100
